Overview

Aloha Everything set out to fill a significant gap in children's literature, where less than 0.5% of books represented Pacific Islander characters. Launching initially as a Kickstarter campaign, the team and I executed a comprehensive marketing strategy, leveraging social media and microinfluencers to spread awareness and drive support.

Responsibilities

I oversaw a team of editors to create hundreds of video and photo assets for social channels, while also facilitating the initial print layout for the first edition. I also guided media specialists in developing a flexible paid social strategy, which was dynamically adjusted week by week to maximize support and drive sales.

Outcome

Aloha Everything exceeded expectations by raising over 13 times its Kickstarter goal and secured publishing with Red Comet Press as their top-selling children's book. It earned critical acclaim, including a starred Kirkus review, the 2025 APALA Picture Book Award, and recognition by the Library of Congress as one of 2024's 'Great Reads for Kids' in Hawaii.
